শুভ জন্মদিন racconta di quel giorno speciale, che tutti noi chiamiamo compleanno, dove i desideri, i colori e le aspettative sono tante. 

Cristina si prepara per festeggiarlo, sognante,  felice, ma forse non è pronta per ricevere una di quelle sorprese che ci fanno aprire gli occhi e ci cambiano improvvisamente la prospettiva. 

Un momento di epifania, decisamente non voluto, crudele e doloroso da una parte, ma in qualche modo illuminante e confortevole dall’altra.

শুভ জন্মদিন tells us of that special day, which we all call birthday, where we have many wishes, colours and expectations.

Cristina is getting ready to celebrate her big day, dreamy, happy, but maybe she's not ready yet to receive one of those surprises that make us open our eyes and suddenly change our perspective.

A moment of epiphany, definitely unwanted, cruel and painful, but somehow enlightening and comforting, too.

Ekaterina Volkova graduted from the National School of Cinema “Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia” in Rome, specializing in film directing.  She participated as a director in various shoots (documentaries, advertising, short movies). Her work “SELFIEsh” was shown at different film festivals and won different nominations. For instance, “best short movie”, “best comedy” and “audience choice award” at Sunny Side Short film Festival in New York. Currently Ekaterina is in pre-production of her first feature movie which will be shot in summer 2023.

Giulia Floria Andorka was born in Murcia in 1993. In 2016 she graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome specializing in film editing. In 2018 she joined the "Association of Italian Film and Television Editors". She was awarded with the best editing for the web series "Il usual sex" by A. Businaro and with the two short films "Puntuale" by S. Giannetto and "Noi siamo la notte" by A. Ricci. In 2022 she edited her first movie Quando Chiove by Mino Capuano, which was presented at the world premiere "Bimbi Belli" review by Nanni Moretti in Rome.

Emanuela Licenziato began shooting at the age of 14, with Russian optics and expired film. She graduates as director of photography at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in 2020. She continues to shoot on films, delving into digital cinema, working as a data/DIT, on sets and series that are currently on the big and small screen. She loves the world of documentaries as much as fiction, cinema and video art. Emanuela is currently in post-production on one of her projects and starting as director of photography for a documentary and several short films.

Agustina Risotto was born in Buenos Aires and she lived in Argentina, Italy and Spain.
She graduated in acting at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. She made her debut as an author with her first play "Commedia in 3 Donne" at the Tordinona theater in 2022, winning the “Luce sul Proscenio” award. Agustina is currently immersed in the preparation of her second drama "Elsewhere" which will be staged in Rome, in March 2023.

Toufikur Rahman, was born in Bangladesh and has lived in Italy for 12 years where everyone calls him Shain.
Shain is a lover of Italian culture, especially enogastronomy. He started working in the restaurant industry, as a dishwasher, and he has now become a cook in a typical restaurant in Rome. Shain is happy to work as an actor for the first time in his life and we are all really grateful that he has decided to join us in our project.

Per raccontare la nostra storia abbiamo unito persone di nazionalità e background differenti, al fine di creare un ambiente lavorativo poliedrico e ricco di punti di vista originali. Abbiamo quindi pensato che un ricompensa adeguata, e speriamo gradita, per il vostro contributo possa essere la lettura di cinque poesie di autori di provenienza diversa, recitate da Agustina in lingua originale.

Della vostra generosità, inoltre, rimarrà traccia nei titoli di coda, tra le persone che hanno contribuito alla realizzazione del corto.

In order to tell our story we brought together people from many different nationalities and backgrounds, this allowed us to create a diverse work environment enhanced by the different points of view of its members. As a result we think that an interesting way to give back would be the performance of poetry,  always in various  different native languages, highlighting how every different cultural reality has something from which we can all be inspired.

Furthermore, your generosity will be in the closing credits, amongst the names of those who contributed to the making of the short.
