Who's behind the project?
When Madonna quoted him as "the voice of a God", she simply hitted one of the main features of Dean Bowman: his ability to became a medium, a link with other times and spaces, pure spiritual connection with the music and its origins.
No matter from where that music comes, he’ll take you there.
That’s the real (and huge) connection with Jimi Hendrix.
Because Hendrix’s music is not replicable, but his attitude does.
And it is just what the Screaming Hendrix Or So project is tryin’ to do: to celebrate his attitude through some of its songs completely revisited and also through new songs, in which Jimi’s spirit will be present.
The Screaming Hendrix Or So project started six years ago, mixing rock, funk, jazz, rap, soul and, of course, Hendrix.
Well, now is time to put on a record the most interesting things we’ve developed during these six years of collaboration, to capture its essence.
If you like what we do, please support us.
How funds will be used
We'll self-cover the costs of much of the production of the record, but with your help we can:
- complete mixing and mastering;
- pay the graphic development and print 1500 physical copies of the record;

What is it about?
Dean Bowman is one of the most influential and respected vocalist of the contemporary African-American music scene; his vocal technique and his unique interpretation skills have led him to be demanded by the most interesting representatives of the world's jazz-experimental scene. In fact, the " jazz vocalist with the soul of a rocker " toured and played with John Scofield, Don Byron, Screaming Headless Torsos, Mingus Big Band, Brass Fantasy, Lester Bowie, Uri Cane and many others.
Project created by
Screaming Hendrix Or So
Screaming Hendrix Or So is the only chance to hear Dean Bowman sing again the music of Screaming Headless Torsos (the revolutionary NYC based band that leaded the New Yorker "nouvelle vogue" with his brand of avant-gardist acid-funk-jazz-rock fusion) melted with some great Hendrix classics hugely revisited and with some new songs with which the "tone poet" resume his path in innovation and experimentation.
