A great music festival in the Renaissance's house

Our project consists in the organization and realization of a great music festival in the historic Renaissance town of Pienza (Siena).

"Pienza International Music Festival" take place in the magical Tuscan town of Pienza that overlooking the Val d'Orcia. Pienza is called "The Ideal City" by Pope Enea Piccolomini and historically is the first model of the Renaissance city in Italy and in the world. Pienza was built in only three years with a project inspired by Enea Silvio Piccolomini when he became Pope in 1458. It represents one of the best Renaissance towns and for this reason is called "Ideal City". In 1996, UNESCO declared the town a World Heritage Site, and in 2004 the entire valley, the Val d'Orcia, was included in the list of UNESCO's World Cultural Landscapes.

"Pienza International Music Festival" began in 2015 with the intention of bringing some great musicians from different musical worlds (classical music, jazz and progressive rock), to perform in some of the most beautiful and enchanting places of Pienza: the cathedral, the Piccolomini Palace, the church of San Francesco, the Pieve of Corsignano, etc ... This musical event would like valorize the union with the renaissance architecture of Pienza in combination with the great music for to immerse the audience in a unique atmosphere of beauty, magic, perfumes , charm and architectural perfection.

The event takes place during summer period, in June, with concerts and master classes every Saturday and Sunday.

The long-term goal is to search additional funds for to make this event even more beautiful and important; bring in Pienza more public and tourism and make it for the Tuscany a basin of even greater cultural and artistic interest.

We will try to collect at least 3500 EURO that will go to increase the amount that the townhall of Pienza will provide for the organization of the Festival. All donations will be spent for the cachet of the musicians and for the publicity material (posters, brochures and program notes)

A great thanks for all the people who want to help us to make this great musical event!

Marco Lo Muscio (Artistic Director)

How funds will be used

The funds will be used exclusively for to pay the fee of the artists and the advertising material.

Thanks so much again!

The festival is the brainchild of Maestro Marco Lo Muscio with support of the culture councilor and vice mayor, dr. Giampietro Colombini.

The core idea was to create a great fixed musical event in Pienza that year after year can grow and become a center of musical excellence a bit like the "Festival of Two Worlds" in Spoleto.

Project created by

Marco Lo Muscio

Hello everyone, I'm Marco Lo Muscio, a pianist, organist and composer that works a lot abroad (Europe, Russia and USA), playing concerts in renowned places and collaborating with international names such as the Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett.

I would like to do more to Italy, and I like the idea of creating music events in historic Renaissance towns with a combination of the various arts.

Thanks a lot for your precious help... Hugs!
