The Bastion is starting
“The Bastion” is hopefully the first episode of a new web series.
The story takes place in Pisa, where the film has been shoot.
The concept is to create something original, from the storyboard to the soundtrack. This is why we have chosen only local artists for this project. Thanks to a wonderful bunch of people, we have kept the costs down, but we couldn’t avoid some expenses. That’s why we are asking for your help in cutting down the costs of this first episode and, if you like what we have done, we will do our best in making a sequel.
Any generation has his own Bastion, a powerful antibody that is able to fight against the dark evil forces that go through the dimensional barriers, already weakened by the time going by. With the help of the Finder, a supernatural and magic expert, and the Blade, a female warrior, the Bastion will fight against any vileness to keep the humanity safe. In our case, these three characters are Tuscans, so try to imagine how funny the situation could be. Be prepared for mystery, a little of chill of fears and lots of laughing. Are you ready? We are. The Bastion is starting…
How funds will be used
With the funds we raise, we will reimburse the shooting and editing costs, the costumes, the special effects and props’ expenses. The more we raise, the more we will able to produce more episodes, with additional cast and special effects.
Who's behind the project?
The creator of this project is David Giuntoli, a nurse with a truly deep passion for movies and writing. After creating a novel called “The Bastion”, he thought that it could be a good starting point for a new film.
He lives in Tuscany, a region with an impressive artistic heritage and full of talented people to work with, so he has proposed his idea to some local artists that have immediately embraced and approved it. The main characters of the plot are Federico Guerri (The Bastion), Valerio Cioni (The Finder) and Serena Cercignano (The Blade). Serena appears on the video presentation, but she will play her leading role from the second episode.Other actors are Orazio Cioffi starring the skeptical journalist, Tommaso Mencini Fabris starring the landlord, a strange and unintelligible character and Margherita Masetti, alias the very mysterious Lucrezia: this role will be kept apart in first instance, while it will be developed in the future, with a quite disturbing nemesis.
Leonardo Miraglia has a role that cannot be revealed.
Lorenzo Costagliola is the camera operator, the lenser and the video editor.
The soundtrack was composed and played by Luca Locci, Phil Hynd (an adopted Tuscan) ad Yuri Bernardini.
The sound engineer is Simone Giusti.
Fabiana Saselle and her colleague Francesca Cotugno took care of the special effects and make up.
The poster is still a secret, and it is a Daniele “Danzo” Milano creation.
Project created by
My name is David Giuntoli, nurse, cinema obsessed, and writer. I was a lazy and fickle guy until, after a serious illness, I realized that “life is a breeze”. So I decided to dedicate my life to turning my dreams into real plans and I started writing. Three of my short storieshave been published in three anthologies. “The Bastion” is my first experience as director and screenwriter. If I have your support, this will not be my last trial. The best has yet to come…
