Strollers, cradles, high seats, bottle warmers and so much more. When a parent is leaving home with small children everything seems essential for a long trip or just a week-end. There is an alternative to extra baggage, however. It’s BabyGuest, the only professional service allowing parents to rent any equipment for their baby and purchase essential items with the certainty of receiving everything at their destination on the date and at the time established.
BabyGuest is not offering its services to just end users. It has a rental/sales department working with selected facilities in the hospitality industry. First of all: hotel keepers. It’s objective is to enable hotels to be better equipped to welcome families by providing anything they need to keep their babies comfortable. BabyGuest allows any hotel to really become kid friendly.
Actually 47 top hotels and resorts and 1,500 serviced apartments have chosen BabyGuest as the ideal partner that can help them to better accommodate families by providing them with all they need to meet the needs of younger guests. They belong to the Blu Hotels Group, to the Planetary Collection Hotels, to the Viscardi Hotels Group and to the service network Y-Nos that manages serviced apartments and villas in Italy and abroad, against, among others, for companies such as Halldis and Windows on Italy (Ferragamo Group), Twentieth Century Homes and Temporary Home. There are also various independent structures who chosed BabyGuest, including Du Lac and Du Parc Resort, located in Riva del Garda, and La Casa sull'Albero of Malgrate, on the Como Lake.
Brainchild of entrepreneur Serena Errico, mum to Leonardo who travels non-stop on business, for family commitments and just leisure, BabyGuest is the right answer for whoever wants to focus more on the travelling experience. With BabyGuest they know that the comfort of their babies is fully assured. All of the items in the catalogue are compliant with international safety standards and are thoroughly cleaned, sanitised and wrapped after use. They are also given regular inspection and older items are replaced. One more plus: BabyGuest can make deliveries to destinations in Italy and any European Union country, thanks to a centralised logistics system.
Simple to use
For parents travelling with babies all it takes is a few clicks to access the BabyGuest website, choose the articles needed and create their own baby bag.
Payments can be made by credit card or PayPal. For those in the hospitality industry there are two ways to access the service: a short term way and a long term way. In the first case the white label version of the BabyGuest service becomes one of the hotel’s amenities, as it allows guests to rent whatever they need. In the second case it is the hotel that rents equipment for a pre-set time and decide whether to allow guests to use it at no extra charge or for a rental fee. The benefit of the rental option for hotels is not having capital tied up in assets that are going to become obsolete.
BabyGuest helping the needy
The BabyGuest quality programme ensures that the life-cycle of rental equipment does not exceed six months. This is true for equipment supplied to parents as well as hotels. We strongly believe that this limit is essential so that we are always supplying a high level service and the articles are consistently modernised to keep up with market trends. This is how we came up with the idea of donating used articles to those who are really in need. BabyGuest has partnered with CasAmica Onlus, an organisation run by volunteers which since 1986 has been taking in the ill from all over Italy in need of help to obtain treatment in city hospitals. It also welcomes their family members. At the end of their life-cycle equipment, furnishings and accessories are sent to four CasAmica homes. Besides, every month BabyGuest picks a game it puts up for sale. All of the proceeds go to CasAmica Onlus.
BabyGuest has a lean team with complementary skills. Besides Serena Errico, the founder, the people involved are Zornitza Kratchmarova, who is in charge of marketing and communication, and Martino Spreafico, graphic designer, who also takes care of operations. We make use of external resources too as regards the development of the platform and the logistics.
BabyGuest was officially launched on March 27th, 2015, and it is currently self-financed.
We would like to accelerate the technological development of the platform and this is the reason why we decided to turn to Eppela and UnipolSai Future Lab. In particular, by collecting funds through the crowdfunding it is our intention to create the app of BabyGuest.
We believe it is an indispensable tool to make access to our services more immediate and to bring it closer to the customers who use prevalently mobile devices (smartphones and tablets).
The creation of the application will have three goals:
1. Allow users to book BabyGuest services directly from smartphones and tablets;
2. Map all "kid friendly" operators which are part of the BabyGuest network, geocalizing them according to the needs of individual users;
3. Book directly an hotel stay and recieve all BabyGuest equipment at destination on the estabilished day.
It is our intention to also proceed to the implementation of the site and the app in more languages. At the moment our platform is available in Italian and in English. We would also translate it in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Russian, Chinese and Arabic. To encourage the spread of the service to potential customers living also outside Europe.
Help us to realize our dream!
BabyGuest was selected by Wired Italy among the ten companies that embody the desire to innovate in Italy in 2015 and reached the final of Fattore Mamma Award 2015 for companies that best represent the spirit of female initiative. We are also competing for the Gaetano Marzotto Price for Innovation 2015. Even press and bloggers welcomed us in a really remarkable way. Check here our press review:

I am Serena Errico, I am 39 years old, and mother of a 3 year old boy. BabyGuest is the result of a personal experience. I realized how difficult it is to travel with a small child and that even the high-end hotel facilities are often not equipped to accommodate infants. In the past I worked in some multinational companies in the commercial sector. After maternity, I decided to get back into the game and to realize a project in which I believe, that involves me and excites me.
