A place for students, a place for the community.
The University of Rome "Tor Vergata", born in 1982, with its 600 hectares Campus and its 40.000 students, is the second university of Rome. Within the School of Economics, the Vilfredo Pareto Library occupies an area of 3000 square meters, 2250 of which are dedicated to consultation, and it includes 490 seatings. The Library is specialized on the School's traditional subjects: economics, management, laws and statistics. Its endowment includes more than 30.300 monographs, 2200 journals, more than 2200 online journals, 800 books concerning statistic and documentary sources, several working papers by italian and foreign Universities and institutions, as well as databases, both online and on dvd/cd-rom. the Library is open from Monday to Friday and it is a key institution for the academic community and also for all students living in the south-east area of Rome.
The civic crowdfunding project "Saturdays in the Library!" aims at allowing students, academics and citizens to benefit from the Library on an extra day, and it also aims at fostering all the cultural initiatives in the area, opening its doors to associations, cooperatives and citizens to host workshops, exhibitions, books presentations and laboratories.
The key idea is to offer a service not only to the academic community, but also to the civil society and to all those working with culture.
If we reach our goal, the Library will be open for 24 Saturdays, 5 hours a day. The funds will be used to pay part-time students that will be working on Saturdays.
