What is Meg
MEG is the world's first Open-Source indoor greehouse - and we're working on itsince 2011.
MEG allows you to manage all the parameters which are necessary for the plants life, controlling the machine's internal climate and the lighting cycles in an user friendly way - straight from you smartphone or tablet.
What's amazing is that MEG records the growing process, so you may repeat it in case of success, or just share it with someone. Our vision is an Open and Shared Knowledge, fueling the constant empowerment of your microgrowing activities.
MEG is not yet on sale, but online you can download the Source Files for free in order to DIY.
A few weeks ago, we won Wired Magazine's "Hack the Expo" contest; in our vision, we'll install 5 custom MEGs in 5 metro stations during the 2015 Universal Exposition to be held in Milan, Italy.
Our message of "Hacking the Expo" is to contribute with Open-Source technologies and Shared Knowledge to the spreading of knowledge in artificial growing.
The crowdfunding campaign
So, this is an unique occasion to spread the word about MEG.
We ask for your contribution in order to let us design and manufacture the first prototype to be installed during the EXPO.
With the money from this campaign, we'll fund the engineering, the manufacturing and the agrobiological research - to be held by our Agricultural Sciences faculty (Università degli Studi di Milano).
The target is to have a physical, 1:1-scale, working prototype by the end of February 2015. Please find all the details regarding the rewards for your contribution.
And at the end of EXPO 2015, all of the custom machine produces will be donated to both private and governative entities which are active in the agrobiological reasearch field.
Thank you for your attention; just spreading the word about this campaign will be of greaat help!

MEG is the world's first Open-Source indoor greenhouse. It allows you to manage all the paramenters for growing your veggies, for then sharing your process. The MEG process, along with its message of Technology and Cultural accessibility, was born as a side-activity from two leading industiral design agencies - D'Alesio&Santoro and Design Group Itallia. It's not our core-business, but our will to be present in the Open Technologies related to the Internet of Things.
