Avoiding any romantic or sentimental temptation, BEYOND STRAIN is a short film that does not challenge, does not aspire to amaze at first glance, but it's rooted in the strain of the repeated action, establishing a conversation with life and its continuous training, like an aesthetics rooted in the creases of being human. In this sense, cameras plunge into space along with the dancers, feeling part of their dance, into the listening of movements, gestures, suonds, looks. A work of serious and strict contemplation.
But now we tell you how it happened. We went to the school of classical ballet Cosi / Stefanescu in Reggio Emilia, where there is an air of sweat and continuous training . We tried to respect the time of the work of the dancers.
we gave us time to listen to sounds, to feel the smells, important waits to enter in to interior conversations with images that then could have been born. We wanted to be discreet and appartated presents.
I was fascinated by the silence and the determination of the artists, listening to the music, in the perfection of the moviment, in each instant's commitment, in the mastery of actions . A metaphor for life?
My experience comes from theatre and visual arts.I have always worked on the border between cinema and video art, so I tried to create a impalpable vision where gestures of the body would replace the word, perhaps even to "present" what words can not say
