WHAT IS ALL ABOUT?
I draw imaginary architectures; out of the real world Architecture can concentrate on its essential nature as an Art, which is the use of space to create emotions. Exactly as music uses sounds for the same purpose.
LANDED@NORDEST, a show that will open not in a normal gallery but in Milan's popular Caffè Nord Est, will be unusual both for its content – imaginary architectures – and for the way drawings will be presented. In a nod to tehniques used by Piranesi – and to today's way of drawing architecture - the drawings will be digitally printed in medium or large size and not shown as originals.
Your contribution will finance the prints, the comunication and the opening evening buffet.
WHY IMAGINARY ARCHITECTURE?
Architecture is always born from the constraints of function, site, budget and so on. These constraints are both its matrix and set its limits.
But often the actual quality of the resulting Architectural space or Geometry has little to do with the original function it is born to shelter. This is how you can literally find hidden underground utilities spaces looking like cathedrals – and the opposite.
Even more so as, during time, functions tend to become irrelevant and the same building can come to express a totally different reality.
Hence the imaginary architecture drawings. They simply show what an Architecture born from necessities totally beyond our imagination may look like.
The drawings are the most adapted vehicle if you want to freely explore the potential of architectural space. Posted regularly on my blog architecturedraftsman.blogspot.com, they are more and more published and recognised around the world. Last July one of the drawings was the winner of the First Prize in the prestigious Blueprint FX Drawing Competition and exposed in London (a video on the competition and generally on drawing is available at: http://bcove.me/4yfh2vd4)
LANDED@NORDEST will open not in a normal gallery but in Milan's popular Caffè Nord Est. The show will present a selection of drawings, digitally printed in medium or large size.
The drawings will be on show between November 7th and December 2nd 2013 at Caffè NordEst, via Borsieri 35 in the Isola area of Milano. The opening night is Thursday November 7 at 8PM.
The requested financing is limited, and its purpose is only to cover the expenses of the show. Basically it will help finance the prints, the comunication and the opening evening buffet. And, obviously, your reward!
In modo chiaro e concreto, il vostro sostegno servirà principalmente a finanziare le stampe, la comunicazione della mostra e il buffet che accompagnerà l'inaugurazione. E ovviamente... le ricompense stesse!
