We think at Totem Arts Festival as an annual event for the city of Ferrara, a meeting point between arts and people, through art and creativity, without barriers represented by the age or artistic "gender". Places: The three days will come to life in Pontelagoscuro, a village in the province of Ferrara on the banks of the river Po, which defines the territory of Emilia and the Veneto. The Teatro Julio Cortazar is now the productive base of Teatro Nucleo, theater company founded in 1974 in Buenso Aires by Cora Herrendorf and Horacio Czertok, based in Ferrara since 1978 . The Teatro Nucleo is a place in which artistic production and research, theater pedagogy, social intervention cohabits. What is now the Teatro Cortazar was for decades the film and multi-purpose hall in the village of Pontelagoscuro. The park Tito Salomoni, dedicated to the painter who was borned here, preserves the only ruins of the old Pontelagoscuro, totally destroyed by British allies during the Second World War and quickly and badly rebuilt in postwar period . The Patchanka, located near the Theatre Cortazar and partner of Totem Arts Festival, very popular pub , offers quality cuisine and has always been committed to the promotion of emerging artists (exhibitions, Open Call "Emergenze" for young music bands) will take care in these three days of refreshment , cuisine point, and music programming, with bar and stage set up outdoors.
Pontelagoscuro is a "popular"place, there is a committee of participation that works very weel, and there it was possible to create the “Teatro Comunitario” Group. Pontelagoscuro (born seven years ago as part of a theatrical project in the territory directed by Teatro Nucleo), fertile ground for a festival designed primarily as a place where the community can identify, as well as artistic proposal of high quality. Totem comes from a need to share creative experiences that are taking place within the theater Cortazar, a desire for comparison with other local and national artistic groups, by the belief that art should be shared , participated. It's a festival which runs without own resources, so we thought about Eppela. The system of crowdfunding it seemed to correspond totally to the approach of "creative network" that has characterized the birth of this event. Actually, many people in fact revolve around Totem, and are already envolved in the organization. The resources that we hope will be collected, will be devoted to setting up the gathering spaces for workshops for children and adults that will be located throughout the park Tito Salomoni, to illuminate properly the park and the road that is very dark at night, and to feed the many artists who will be invited to be part of the festival.
What will happen?
Pre-festivals workshops for all citizens: construction with recycled materials, lighting effects.
Workshops during the Festival: theater-circus for adults and children, contemporary dance, community theater, graphic arts.
Performances, concerts, shows, indoor and in urban location, for which the Teatro Julio Cortazar provides its audio and lighting equipment. videodance review outdoor, outdoor and indoor photography exhibitions, Popular Milonga, Urban Community Lunch, Parties.
