Who am I ?

"We are proudly creating our little fairy tale, and we want to continue working for so long. Our love for the Territory, for our grapes and our Cellar pushes us to do better and better. Every single day"

These are the words Federico Nardi, winemaker, great lover, drinker of good wine. The passion and compliments of friends and professionals, in 2017 led Federico to open the farm and to follow the winery in the small village of Martinsicuro, in the province of Teramo, in Abruzzo.

The Cellar

Currently the McCalin winery owns 7 Crù for a total of just over 2 hectares between the hills of Colonnella and Controguerra, inside the Teramo DOGC hills. But the dedication to his work and to what he loves most push Federico to recover old vineyards with old clones. Native vines of the area: Montepulciano, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Passerina and Malvasia.

McCalin is the name of the "lineage" of Federico Nardi's father. A fascinating story that is handed down through the Cuvèe Antica label, one of the wines of McCalin's wine production, where the family's paternal house is depicted, covered by the sea in 1958 and currently 150 meters from the shore.

Pieces of Abruzzo, mostly clayey soils, the sun, the wind and the saltiness and obviously a bit of history flow into the bottles of McCalin.

The Wines: Rossodamare 17 e Rossodamare 18

Rossodamare 17: A pure Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Fermentation in steel, exclusively with indigenous yeasts. A 15/20 days maceration on the skins, according to the seasons. It rests 24 months in steel. After two months of aging in bottle it is ready to be tasted. Unfiltered or clarified.

The Crowdwine Project
