What is it about?
Associates and volunteers of the non-profit organization RecuperARTI are creating a Creative Reuse Center in Pietrasanta, a little town in Tuscany (Italy) known as the "little Athens" of Versilia for her strong art culture.
Surplus items donated from individuals and local businesses will be diverted from the waste stream and collected, selected and stored in the RecuperARTI Center; these will be made available to schools, non-profit organizations, artists and individuals interested in creative reuse.
Thus a purpose will be given back to materials that would otherwise remain unused or throw away: creative reuse is when sustainability and creativity come together.
RecuperarARTI aims to partner with companies that have reusable waste and to support schools and those who intend to carry out educational and creative projects but lack in resources. Moreover the Creative Reuse Center will be a meeting point for people who believe in the ideal of a sustainable world.
The project is highly innovative for the Versilia area, where there are no similar initiatives.
It also contributes to the development of the circular economy, giving a value to what is otherwise considered a residue of production.
The non-profit organization RecuperarARTI intends to act as an intermediary between companies and artists, schools, non-profit organizations and private individuals who wish to use surplus waste from the production processes, for educational purposes, for their works, projects and purposes, with benefit for all parties involved.
RecuperARTI promotes a process and a culture in which seemingly unusable materials are re-evaluated and brought to a new life through a creative, artistic and educational process.
How funds will be used
For the realization of the Creative Reuse Center RecuperARTI, we need your support!
The space available to the organization needs renovation work to become fully operative.
Once ready the space will function as:
- Office space: the associates will work to create a network of relationships and to promote interactions between businesses, educational agencies and local artists.
- Materials Warehouse: surplus materials donated by businesses and individuals will be stored in the center. They will then be available for creative-educational projects: creativity starting from waste materials and environmentally friendly behaviours will therefore be encouraged.
- Education Center: in the space, adults and children will see and experience creative reuse up close during workshops: using a variety of materials and tools participants will be lead in creating empowering and environmentally conscious art projects.
- Gallery Space: the venue is located in the center of Pietrasanta, a vibrant art town. By giving visibility to work created by socially engaged artists that incorporate reusable materials into their practice, the Gallery will promote the culture of sustainability through the universal language of art.
The renovation expenses will be contained thanks to the voluntary work of many professionals and associates.
Nevertheless, materials and part of the workforce have a cost that we hope to cover with this fundraising.
In detail, if we reach the first set goal of 2800 euro, we will purchase the materials for masonry, bring the electrical and hydraulic system up to standard and create a predisposition for the thermal system.
If the goal is exceeded, we will set a second target of 4200 euros which will allow us to redo the flooring and therefore make the environment warmer and more suitable for hosting children's workshops.
Project created by
Started on November 14, 2018 by seven women, mothers and professionals, RecuperARTI is a Non-Profit Organization based in Pietrasanta, Tuscany, Italy
In a very short time, the associates of RecuperARTI found supporters and volunteers who are initiating productive collaborations with operators in the area
The Organization obtained the support of Legambiente Versilia, started the first material collection activities and delivered these materials to local teachers and artists for creative-educational projects
With the creation of the Creative Reuse Center, RecuperARTI intends to develop and enhance these activities and reach an increasing number of companies, schools and individuals who will benefit from the service
