Film sul filosofo Emanuele Severino

This is a crowdfunding campaign to finance a documentary film about the Italian philosopher Emanuele Severino with English subtitles to make his philosophy more known outside Italy. We kindly ask you to help us with a financial contribution at this platformto realize this film. Anyone who will support the project with a contribution will receive a copy of the film (about 40 minutes).

In this film Emanuele Severino will present the essential characteristics of his philosophy, as well as the development process of his thought. This includes the influence of his teacher Bontadini, his encounter with the fragments of Parmenides, his comprehension of Being and eternity, and the continued questioning of all those phenomena of Western history which he considers alienations from the truth of Being. His philosophy also includes the critical examination of Nietzsche and Heidegger, who, in his view, did not fully understand the depth of Western nihilism and therefore necessarily missed its real overcoming. Severino's position is increasingly important today as he interprets the global expansion of technology  as a result of our alienation from the truth of Being.

Behind every philosophical thought there is always a living person, and especially a film can make this person tangible. The thought of a philosopher comes to life not only at his desk, but also outdoors, in walking, in the activities of everyday life. Therefore, the film should not be limited to the usual closed recordings, but should show the philosopher in other situations as well. Furthermore, the film should also represent some elements of Severino's personal biography.

Severino could also indicate the metaphorical meaning of the cinematographic medium because the whole film always exists in its totality, but never appears as a whole; what appears is only the sequence of its individual moments. The philosopher has delineated this idea at the festival "Il vento del cinema", directed and conceived by Enrico Ghezzi at Lipari in 2001.

The film will be offered to universities worldwide as an introduce Severino's thinking to students. Filmmaker Thomas Josef Roth has recently made two films about philosophy that are used in various European and American universities.
