What is it about?

Apologies for my elementary english.  After several photographic volumes about Tuscany and my last work that concern the 2018 Monti Sibillini National Park calendar (shocked area by earthquakes in the centre of Italy), I hope to come back in the North of the world, this time not like a tourist on holiday, but to realize a photo book about Shetland Islands. It's an archipelago between North sea and Atlantic Ocean, in the middle between the North peak of Scotland and Norway.

It's a remote, isolated place and for that reason it interest me, I'm passionate about it. 25000 people live in that land made by ten islands, 6500 of them in Lerwick, the ancient capital.

Shetland Island boast a unique landscape with their bitter charm and their very isolated location. You can imagine kilometres of breathtaking coasts edge by uncontaminated beach and crystal blue water. Not to mention clear lakes, moorland cover by Erica, magnificent rock formations and cliffs carved by millenary erosion of wind, water and sand.

In Shetland they also live a lot in pubs, with typical music and you can ear telling stories really unique...

I would pass the second half of July 2018 between those forgotten Islands. I would live the atmosphere and landscape to recording and telling, like a documentary and landscape photographer, but also like a journalist.

But there is a problem and It’s about costs. I can buy clothes to wear there and maybe a good waterproof lens like my principal camera, but I don't have the possibility to support the cost of the travel and the my book edition.

And so I decided to resort to the Crowdfunding of Eppela with trust, I hope to reach the goal: to collect 14000 euro necessary to realize my dream/project.

How funds will be used

It's very easy: 2500 euro will be necessary for the travel (international and local flights, accommodation in Lerwick and two nights somewhere else, car rent and ferries). The other part will be dedicated to realize a large format book (more or less 23x26 cm) with book jacket and high quality paper. The idea is to realize it with an expert editor, specialized in art and photographic volumes. We provide about 150 pages, a lot of them dedicated to photos, but won't miss some short narrative texts or descriptions. It isn't a commercial operation, in fact all of 500 provided copies will be destinated to every person who contribute to realize this project and to the author (about 20 copies).

Who's behind the project?

Behind the project there is a tuscany photographer and writer, Gianni Brunacci. I can't count on an organization or a sponsor for my work. You could read who i am in Bio area or in my website www.giannibrunacci.com.

I'm a photographer and writer who live in Arezzo. I tell places and people with my photos. I have been lucky to meet people who commission me photo book dedicated to Tuscany and Monti Sibillini National Park, but It’s hard to find a local sponsor who support me in Mission Shetland project. So I’ve thought about Crowfunding with Eppela. I believe in my dream!
