What is it about?
I’ve always thought that nature, surroundings and places drive the human being and this project starts from this belief…
This belief is also the reason why I hiked the Road to Santiago, together with Umi “mi loba peregrina”.I’ve always thought that surroundings and places drive the human being and this project starts from this belief…
Somedays the Trees are your mentors, somedays the Leaves, the Ground, the Rocks, some others the Sea, the Wind or even the Rain.
Every place has its own rhythm and while your walking you realize your steps are like music. Your steps blend with the steps of the pilgrims who walked the same ways you’re doing and together, your pawns and pilgrims ones, create a walking people percussionist orchestra of percussionist…
Steps are the road.
When I hiked the Road of Santiago I felt I also had to put my feet along the other trails that lead to Santiago, the “Camino del Norte” and the “Via de la Plata”. I felt I had to describe them in a book.
This is the reason why I put up this project, after a lot of years and with a new travel buddy, Kirkjufell. This project will bring me to walk the Road of the north coast of Spain.
I will walk, I will write and I will take pictures of the Roads to Santiago with my eyes and my soul. This is what I want to share with people that love to walk.
From the journal/book to Santiago, under the Milky Way:
“Umi drives me when I’m tired , She tells me and reminds me to keep open all my senses because there’s always something amazing to discover, to listen, to stare at, to let it come into me… I see how she’s always open to life…”
“… the space, the people I meet, they drive my life… Umi the sea and this sound of the wind while I’m writing these words…”
“we’re walking in the White land, looks like a desert in the wind, and this light is leading me… then we started to hike upon the “'Alto del Perdón”, where the pilgrim must to stop and verify his will to arrive to Santiago (is a clear choice that this prove is after a rise at the top of a hill, but it’s true, there’s a positive light that is with you)… there were strange luminous effects both here and in other places along the Road. The tradition tells about a Light goes through the Vault of Heaven and that can be seeing only by wood gnomes…”
How funds will be used
The funds will be used for:
- Walk and live along the Road
- Travel expenses
- Photographic gears
- The remains funds will be used or for the book or for the next hike “Via de la Plata”
Who's behind the project?
behind the project there are : Paola Garilli , Giovanni Solenghi and Kirkjufell , Czechoslovakian wolfdog , our travel companion and Umi’s grandson.
Hiking with a friend let you see things more deeply then when you’re alone.
The third element is the Road, that showed me how amazing is walking, how everything has to be experienced in the right moment, how thoughts are like brookes and how the Road has different sounds depending of its ground colors or its concrete.
There’s also the “Garilli Sound Project” with the soundtrack for this project
And there are the steps, mine ones and the pilgrim’s ones.
A pilgrim is someone who listens the place while is walking and let the place leads him...
Behind the project there are also those who walk with us , because there isn't a soul that doesn't fly without someone else's wing ...

I believe that my personal dimension is “the walking”… and walking with a friend is my lifeblood.
When I was studyng Natural Sciences , I spent a year in Spain , and among the streets of Barcelona,
among Gaudi’'s work , I listened how he was guided by nature and I put this sound, among my steps, on every journey...
“that tree, that one near my" taller" , that is my master…” - Gaudi’ –
