A virtuous project that is growing more and more.
Virtuoso& Belcanto is a Chamber Music Festival held in Lucca between July 16th and July 29th 2018, now in its third edition. The Festival is based around three elements closely connected to each other:
- Masterclasses held by prestigious international Maestros
- Competitions reserved for those enrolled in the Masterclasses with significant prizes
- Concerts held by the guest artists and the best students present.
This structure makes it possible to attract the most talented young musicians from all over the world - the 2017 edition recorded the presence of more than 300 young musicians from 41 countries from 5 continents - as well as being able to carry out an intense concert activity that attracted a total audience of more than 5000 people.
Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival has embarked on a journey to become one of the unmissable events for music lovers all over the world, focusing on specific objectives:
- becoming an essential moment of celebration of musical talent and the joy of making music;
- discovering and promoting new musicians (the winner of the Virtuoso & Belcanto 2017 piano competition will undertake a concert tour in China in 2018);
- increasing a qualified and passionate tourist presence through a rich calendar of events in some of the most exciting places in Tuscany
In the 2018 edition the new project dedicated to opera singing will also start: Virtuoso & Belcanto Opera Project. This new educational program, from 25th of June to 7th of July 2018, aims to offer the most interesting lyric singers an educational activity of significant improvement and concrete working possibilities.
The Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival is looking to find other moments of realization in the near future, becoming increasingly growing workshop of activities and new ideas, also directly involving the territories it touches in its activities, with a greater attention to the younger ones, through specific projects dedicated to high school and undergraduate students, and developing collaborations with the most important international realities.
Hundreds of young artists from all over the world
The spirit of Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival cannot be apart from its protagonists: Music and young talents. Their centrality in the program is essential: the specialization courses are an unmissable opportunity for these young artists who are about to start or have just started their careers; being able to meet, confront and test yourself with the greatest international Maestros is a precious moment. As precious as the climate of exchange and comparison: the ability to network and share the experiences of study and work with other artists is certainly one of the essential points of the festival. Students who are selected to participate in courses and competitions are undisputed talents who grow and perfect themselves guided by a love and overwhelming joy for music. Music is the purpose and the means of this activity.
Documentation, communication and accessibility of contents
In order to grow and consolidate the genuine success of the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival project, we need an intense work of communication and documentation through audio, video and photo recordings. Documentation plays an essential role in the growth of cultural events:
being able to document means being able to communicate effectively the beauty and liveliness of this initiative, so to start incisive communication campaigns beginning from a full and tangible portrait of the experience that is lived during the festival, both as students and as public. Documenting means making contents and experiences accessible through the media and digital media, to reach even those who wanted to be with us and could not, but also those who want to relive, remember and share their Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival.
The audio and video documentation can also become an educational tool: our students will benefit from quality recordings to evaluate their own path and compare themselves with the experiences of others.
An international team
The Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival is organized by the Cultural Association Voces Intimae which carries out its activities in the field of the promotion of culture and art, with particular reference to classical and chamber music.
