All-around support for parents and newborns

The Centro Assistenza Post Parto is the first clinical center in Italy entirely dedicated to the families who are facing the first months after the birth of a child.

Consisting of the most qualified multidisciplinary team of expert medics, psychologist/psychotherapists, obstetricians and childcare educators in Tuscany and Italy, the center provides all-around support for the new families with many services offered.

- Pediatric medic consultation

- Psychological support and psychotherapy sessions for individuals and couples

- Group meeting/therapy for new mothers and fathers

- Obstetric consulting

- Child care during time visiting the center

WHY CREATE A FAMILY CENTER FOCUSED ON THE POSTPARTUM PERIOD?

the initial worries individuals and partners face with their new family can often lead to:

 -Stress

-Fatigue

-Sense of inadequacy

-Disputes with the partner / extended family

These preliminary issues may transform into more serious problems such as:

-Anxiety

-Aggression

-Separation/Divorce

-Depression

-Psychosis

Underestimating these conditions during the postpartum period can lead to devastating consequences.

It is also scientifically acknowledged that most personality disorders and psychopathologies that arise in adolescence and adulthood are stemmed from disturbances during the first years of life.Underestimating these conditions during the postpartum period can lead to devastating consequences.

Our program has been structured after years of studying the exact needs and issues that arise during the post-partum period. We aim to support families in hopes that these parents will gain the strength and stability needed to provide a healthy environment for their new child.

How funds will be used

Made possible thanks to the collaboration of the top professionals of perinatal care in Tuscany, the center will offer services from its central office in Florence with the goal of accommodating the needs of families from all over the region.

We offer services and all-around support to new families for the first year after the birth of a child. Our services include the following:

-Psychological support for individuals, couples and families (Four 50-minute sessions per week)

-Individual and family psychotherapy (Four 50-minute sessions per week)

-Self-help group meetings led by psychotherapists for groups of new mothers and fathers (2-hr sessions twice a week)

-Pediatric medical assistance (3 hrs per week)

-Psychiatric medical assistance (3 hrs per week)

-Obstetric assistance (4 hrs per week)

-Postpartum orientation meetings (twice a month)

-Childcare services for parents during the hours spent in the center (12 hrs per week)

The center will offer a low-cost rate (50 euro/month) for services of the highest quality to families that in other cases may not be able to afford the care they require. The importance of this project is why all the professionals involved have agreed to collaborate by offering their services with compensation well below the standard. Any funds collected in excess, will be used to extend the services offered. In order for the center to maintain its services and support these families, we need your help!

Our goal is for this center to become a reference model in Italy, and to ensure that our carefully designed and structured support methods become recognized as essential, which we hope will one day become a standard throughout our country.  We are aware that this is an ambitious project, but we also know the importance and the impact it will have in creating a better future for thousands of families and for new generations.
